Margaret!

I've always had a love of the Australian environment and my first job was as a Zoo Keeper, at the Healesville Sanctuary. My favourite creature to work with was a Platypus - those quirky pals made my days! In my spare time, I enjoyed creating cartoon character profiles for all the staff members which jazzed up our weekly internal newsletter.

Fast-forward a bunch of years, add a marriage and four energetic kids into the mix, I headed to the University of Newcastle, NSW to study Natural History Illustration - this is where Science and Art is blended in the coolest way possible. A lot of field work, research, nature journaling and experimentation, leads to anything from children’s book illustration to scientific plates of plants, insects or animals, to sculptures and educational installations. Since completing my degree, I have worked in my community to help organise annual Art exhibitions, worked as an Art Curator, dabbled in nature photography, with a couple of my own exhibitions. I also now have a Certificate IV in Arts Administration. Recently back in Victoria, I have started to build a new network of like-minded artisans and discovered ‘Art-ish’. I look forward to new adventures, sharing art with my new community.
